Today's Fact

Losing a limb in the middle of an apocalypse barely slowed Lucas Bishop down. What he bolted on instead is the part nobody talks about.

BISHOP REPLACED THE ARM A MONSTER ATE WITH A STOLEN NUCLEAR ONE — WITH A TIME MACHINE BUILT IN!
The Featured Fact

During the Messiah CompleX endgame, the mutant-eating creature Predator X tore Bishop's right arm off at the shoulder. Bishop cauterized the wound himself and kept hunting Cable and the baby Hope — and his next stop was Forge's own laboratory at Eagle Plaza.

There he stole a prototype replacement that the lab's own signage frankly described as a nuclear-powered battle-ready arm, then had Forge's time-travel technology built into it. The arm could sprout clawed tendrils, feed Bishop's energy-absorption powers from its own reactor, and jump him through time — the one tool his hunt actually required.

Bishop later packed the arm with a short-lived nanite burst that shuts down electronics and nervous systems, and at his lowest point he wired a thermonuclear device into it, planning to take Hope with him if it ever came to that. X-Force eventually took the arm off him — which may be the most sensible thing anyone did in that entire war.

Why It's Obscure

One missing arm, one stolen reactor, and a chase conducted across centuries.

THE WOUND
Predator X was engineered to hunt mutants, and it nearly finished Bishop in Dallas while every faction in Messiah CompleX collided over a single infant.
THE THEFT
Forge, the mutant inventor whose technology made the chase possible, was beaten and robbed by the same man twice — Bishop needed the maker as much as the machine.
THE SPEC SHEET
Tendrils, a reactor Bishop could drink power from, nanites, and a time drive: the arm was less a prosthesis than a weapons program with fingers.
THE END OF IT
Captured by X-Force during the Cable Vol. 2 run (2008), Bishop was separated from the arm — and still escaped, which says plenty about the man attached to it.
