Today's Fact

Lucas Bishop was born in a dystopian future (Earth-1191) where mutants were rounded into relocation camps and branded with a large “M” on the face — the mark he still carries over his right eye. He grew up in those camps with his sister Shard, raised on stories of the X-Men as legends of a freer past.
He became a cop in the Xavier's Security Enforcers (XSE), a mutant police force, and traveled back in time pursuing a fugitive — arriving in the present as a cameo at the end of The Uncanny X-Men #282 (November 1991), created by John Byrne and Whilce Portacio (Jim Lee cover). His first full appearance came in #283 (December 1991), establishing his powers and the XSE backstory.
His power is reactive, not flashy: he absorbs energy — blasts, impacts — stores it, and redirects it as concussive force, plus an instinctive sense of his exact present time and place. No energy coming in, no blasts going out — which is why the big gun is usually doing the talking.
Why It's Obscure
Everybody knows the red scarf and the big gun. Almost nobody knows the 'M' over his eye started as a relocation-camp brand — or that he grew up idolizing the X-Men as legends.
