Today's Fact

As head of Krakoa's intelligence arm, Beast decided that the South American nation of Terra Verde and its plant-based science of telefloronics could one day rival Krakoa's miracle medicines. In X-Force Vol. 6 #6 (2020) he captured Hadwin Cocom, the president's son whose body carried that technology, and reprogrammed the telefloronics inside him to attack his neural functions — returning a national leader's child home in a vegetative state and calling the lobotomy a security measure.
The silenced technology did not stay silent. It went rogue, overran Terra Verde and consumed nearly the whole population across X-Force Vol. 6 #9–10 (2020), while Jean Grey read Hank's mind, dragged his secrets into the open and confronted him over the lies. Beast held his ground with a spymaster's arithmetic: a few sacrificed here, he argued, could spare many more elsewhere.
The deepest cut surfaced at the first Hellfire Gala in X-Force Vol. 6 #20 (2021): Beast had used the same plants to take complete control of Terra Verde, and he brought its mind-controlled diplomats to the party so they could mingle and sing Krakoa's praises until Sage uncovered the coding beneath their compliments. The bouncing, bookish Avenger had quietly annexed a sovereign nation — and logged the conquest as a diplomatic triumph.
Why It's Obscure
Krakoa gave its kindest scientist a black-ops budget, and the receipts include one whole country.
