Today's Fact
Checked against independent sources — the issues are cited below.
During the Avengers Disassembled collapse, a destabilised Scarlet Witch confronted the mentor who had once wiped her memories of her lost twins, and Agatha Harkness died off-panel at her student’s hands; Nick Fury later found the body, as shown in Avengers Vol. 3 #503 (2004). Wanda herself retained no memory of doing it.
Death turned out to be a change of office hours rather than a retirement. When James Robinson’s Scarlet Witch Vol. 2 #1 (2015) opened, Agatha was travelling at Wanda’s side in spectral form, advising, narrating, and occasionally reminding her pupil exactly how she had died, with remarkably little interest in holding a grudge about it.
The ghostly apprenticeship peaked on the Witches’ Road, where Agatha helped Wanda confront her hidden family history and defend Witchcraft itself against Chaos. When Wanda’s mother Natalya Maximoff sacrificed her own spirit in Scarlet Witch Vol. 2 #14 (2016), the transaction returned Agatha to living flesh — younger, sharper, and entirely unwilling to waste a second lifetime.
Why It's Obscure
Being murdered by her star pupil did not end the lessons; it merely removed Agatha’s need for a body to attend them.
