Today's Fact
He won omnipotence, got put on trial for owning it, and solved the problem by giving reality itself to the last being anyone would frisk.
When Adam Warlock took the Infinity Gauntlet from the beaten Thanos, he did not get to enjoy godhood for long. In Warlock and the Infinity Watch #1 (1992), Eternity hauled him before the assembled cosmic powers, and the Living Tribunal delivered the verdict: the six Infinity Gems must never again work in unison, and Warlock himself was judged unfit to hold them all.
So in Warlock and the Infinity Watch #2 (1992) he split the set among a hand-picked guard that became the Infinity Watch. Warlock kept the Soul Gem he had worn for years, gave the Time Gem to Gamora, the Space Gem to Pip the Troll, the Power Gem to Drax the Destroyer — who promptly swallowed it for safekeeping — and the Mind Gem to Moondragon.
That accounts for five gems, announced in the open. The sixth, the Reality Gem, Warlock handed over in total secrecy to Thanos — the very titan who had just tried to wipe out half of all life with the full set. His reasoning was pure Warlock: a humbled Thanos, retired to a quiet life of farming, was the one guardian no thief would ever suspect, and a secret nobody knew could not be stolen.
Why It's Obscure
A custody arrangement for the universe, drafted by a golden ex-god with a flair for hiding things in plain sight.
