Today's Fact
He owned a jewel with a whole country inside it, and for years the only address he wanted was in there.
When Adam Warlock died fighting Thanos in 1977, his soul did not pass on to any afterlife the mystics catalogue. It slipped inside his own Soul Gem, into the pocket paradise called Soul World, where he was reunited with the already-fallen Pip the Troll and Gamora and simply stayed there, at peace, for years of real time.
Soul World is not a waiting room. It is a green, quiet realm inside the gem where every resident somehow knows every other resident, old hatreds go soft, and Warlock — a being engineered in a lab and dragged through two cosmic wars — became its unofficial steward and ruler, the one soul who could leave and consistently chose not to.
Retirement ended only when Thanos came hunting the Infinity Gems again. In Silver Surfer Vol. 3 #34 (1990), the Surfer's own captured soul found Warlock inside the gem and argued him out of paradise. Warlock agreed, reached out from Soul World, and had fresh bodies grown for himself, Pip and Gamora so all three could rejoin the fight.
Why It's Obscure
A paradise with no wars, no churches and no Magus — and he still got a house call from a herald of Galactus.
